Sleep Dentistry

Updated: Dec 4, 2019

At Dentaltown, we appreciate that some people don't enjoy going to the dentist and some can become quite anxious before and during their treatment. To alleviate this anxiety, we offer sleep dentistry.

In a nut shell, sleep dentistry involves the patient being put into a gentle beautiful sleep. This is achieved by the patient being given general anaesthetic. To do this, the patient is required to go to either St Vincent's or St Luke's Hospital where a specially trained Anaesthetist will induce a sleep like state and monitor the patient throughout the whole procedure.

Once asleep, the Surgeon or Dentist will perform the required dental procedure.

We can facilitate this process by way of referral, if requested.

Other ways that a patient can be made to feel relaxed are through the administration of oral sedation in the form of a tablet, laughing/happy gas (not currently offered at Dentaltown) and/or Intravenous sedation.

If you wish to discuss any of these options further, please don't hesitate to get int touch with the team at Dentaltown.
